Search Console data for three restaurant websites we built starts on September 22, 2026: Cocobang, a late-night Korean restaurant in San Francisco; King Katsu Land, a Korean pork cutlet restaurant in Daly City and Newark, California; and Midori Sushi, a family-run sushi restaurant in Northwest Austin since 1999. This is what their first week shows.
Cocobang: 830 impressions a day, four days after its domain was registered
Cocobang's domain, cocobang-sf.com, was registered on September 22, and Google recorded the site's first impression the same day. Daily impressions then went from 1 to 84, 385, 787 and 830 on September 26, the highest day so far.
From September 25 to 27 the site reached Google's first page for 229 queries and the top position for 40, including "korean food in sf", "nearby korean restaurant" and "korean food near union square". 88% of its impressions were on phones, where its average position was 4.6. In the same days, 25% of visits included a click to Uber Eats, DoorDash or Grubhub.
The site launched with a home page and a menu page listing 26 dishes as text, structured data for the restaurant, its menu and common questions, and opening hours past midnight written the same way on the page and in the structured data.
King Katsu Land: 62 people clicked Order in three days
From September 25 to 27, 62 people clicked Order on King Katsu Land's website: 34 for Daly City and 28 for Newark. Each location has its own Order links, to DoorDash, Grubhub and Uber Eats, so the restaurant can see which one guests were trying to reach.
Search grew in the same days. Impressions rose 24%, to 4,845, and the site held the top position for 37 queries, including "food in daly city". Broader local searches moved up: "korean food near me" from an average position of 9.3 to 3.8, and "korean restaurant near me" from 11.7 to 5.0.
Midori Sushi: 65% more search impressions
Midori Sushi's search impressions rose from 1,615 on September 22–24 to 2,662 on September 25–27, and its average position moved from 10.4 to 8.5. The biggest single change was "sushi near me", a search where the map results sit above the websites: 479 impressions, up from 185, at an average position of 8.9, up from 10.1.
On September 25 we added a guide to nearby landmarks, expanded the About page with the family behind the restaurant, resubmitted the sitemap to Google and answered 38 guest reviews on the Google Business Profile. The rise came after those changes. Three days of data cannot show which change caused it.
Guests use the menu. From September 25 to 27, 78 people opened Midori's menu page, which lists 210 entries as text, and stayed about two minutes on average. 20 of them used the category filters and 6 searched the menu. 29 people went on to order on ChowNow, 21 of them after finding the site on Google.
How we counted
Two equal windows, September 22–24 and September 25–27, 2026, in Pacific time. Google's figures for September 26 and 27 were still preliminary when we read them on September 28. A query at #1 has an average position below 1.5, and the first page means 10 or better. Order clicks are counted once per visit, starting after our setup checks on September 23, and they are clicks toward an order, not completed orders. Search Console has no data for these domains before September 22, so there is no before to compare with.
Next
We will update this note with the first 28 days, using the same definitions, around October 19.
