King Katsu Land: three directions and the first search snapshot

Three coded design directions for two locations, followed by 3,894 search impressions, 174 clicks and the #1 Google position for 31 queries in the latest three days.

King Katsu: a wide pork cutlet on a white plate, sauce being poured, on black marble

The shop

King Katsu Land serves Korean-style pork cutlet in Daly City and Newark, California.

Three directions, built in code

For King Katsu Land, we designed three directions and built each as a working page. The owner could review the layouts, menu and location information on a phone as well as a desktop.

  • Crown Noir: black marble, a spotlight and crown gold. Made for evenings and a premium position.
  • Katsu Land Pop: a vermilion field, chunky type and cut-out plates, as playful as the "Land" in the name.
  • Gyeongyangsik Editorial: cream paper and serif type, the nostalgia of a Korean western-style diner, set like a magazine.

All three follow the same six sections: hero, story, menu, the challenge that is unique to this shop, the two locations, and a call to order.

Research before design

The directions came after the research: a sales brief of 21 slides and a research board on who searches nearby, what they ask and who ranks today. Facts first, then the site.

Queries at #1 on Google
31Including “daly city food”, “korean restaurant newark” and “restaurants daly city”

Whole domain. On Google's first page for 228 queries. September 24 is preliminary.

The search figures cover September 22–24, 2026, in Pacific time, retrieved from Search Console on September 25. September 24 is still preliminary. The totals include HTTP and HTTPS pages on the production domain and its www host, aggregated by page, and exclude staging hosts.

Across those three days the site appeared on Google's first page, an average position of 10 or better, for 228 different queries. For 31 of them it held the top position, including "daly city food", "korean restaurant newark" and "restaurants daly city". The figures are domain totals, including the restaurant's existing search history.

GA4 collection is also active. Early reports include site checks, so we are not presenting those visits or button clicks as customer or sales results.
